Somac
Somak (Sumac) is a wonderful aromatic spice which is incredibly popular in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cooking. It offers a delicious tangy and slightly citrusy, sweet flavour, which has been derived from the dried and crushed berries of the Rhus tree giving it, it's beautiful deep red colouring. Somak adds tremendous flavours to a number of different seasoning combinations and works well when dusted over hummus and Greek yoghurt dips. It also adds great flavours top a number of different BBQ meats, such as lamb chicken and prawns and works well when incorporated into refreshing salads, cous cous and quinoa dishes.
