Pinto Beans
Pinto can be used in soups and stews and served with rice, or traditionally used in burritos and salsa toppings.
Ingredients: Pinto Beans
Country of Origin: USA
Small brown and cream speckled dried beans, slightly elongated in shape. Pre washed pinto beans are cleaned and then washed in water and dried; this process removes all stones and high-density foreign matter. Pinto bans are commonly mashed in the USA and Mexico and used as a filling for burritos. Pinto beans are therefore a staple in many Latin American countries. They can be used in soups and stews and served with rice. From a nutrition perspective, pinto beans are similar to most other beans in that they are low in fat and are high in fiber for good digestive function and also to assist in lowering cholesterol re-absorption. Remember that combining beans with a grain (like rice) gives you complete protein.
